A player may bid zero tricks, which is referred to as "Nil". This bid is commonly used when someone has a hand made up of low ranking cards and few trump cards or cards in the suit of spades. If the player bidding "Nil" is successful then normally he would be rewarded a bonus of 100 points. Alternatively, if that player is unsuccessful and captures at least one trick, that player is then penalized 100 points.

Life is similar to the card game 'Spades' because just like Spades, life is a game of chance. Some people at birth have more advantages than others and those people would be considered to have been dealt a winner's hand. This is a fact and there is no need to dwell upon it because if you do, you will never be able to fully live a happy life.
